Oakland Tourer 1921
Oakland Motor Car Co, USA
The Oakland was a typical American car of the early 1920s, and was superseded in 1931 by the Pontiac. This exhibit has travelled only 32,000 km and was owned from new by the late Mr W G H Field of Waikanae.
6 cylinders, ohv, 18.2 hp.
 
Oldsmobile 1903
Olds Motor Works, USA
In 1891 Ransom Olds experimented with a three-wheeled steam car and six years later built a single-cylinder petrol engine dog cart. Shortly afterwards he made his first famous Curved Dash Runabout, the world's first mass-produced automobile. Donated by Sir Walter Norwood.
5 hp, single cylinder, 1566 cc, trembler coil ignition, 2-speed epicyclic transmission and central chain drive.
