Indian 841 1942
Hendee Manufacturing Co, USA
The American Army wanted a front-line motorcycle and believed that to be truly reliable it would have to be shaft-driven, like the German Z?ndapp or Soviet Ural models. The 841 Indian was the company's answer and was the first Indian fitted with a foot-operated gear shift. The 841 didn't see service, and no more than 1,000 of this type were finally made, although the concept has since been taken up by the likes of Honda and Moto Guzzi. This is one of perhaps only 39 surviving 841s.
750 cc, transverse twin engine.
